Every Botswanamark diamond begins its journey as a rough diamond mined in Botswana. Our diamonds originate from operations run by Debswana or Lucara, including the Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Karowe mines, whose environmental and occupational health and safety management systems are independently certified to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Botswanamark diamonds are sourced directly through the Okavango Diamond Company, De Beers or Lucara. Our supply-chain due diligence includes visits to mining operations and the facilities of our manufacturing partners, supporting our assessment that every Botswanamark diamond is sourced and handled in accordance with recognised environmental, occupational health and safety, and responsible-business standards.
Botswanamark uses Tracr and iTraceiT to document the stages of the diamond journey. Depending on the stone and the participating supply-chain partners, these platforms may record information relating to origin, transformation and transfer from Botswana through cutting, polishing and distribution.
By preserving the identity and available chain-of-custody records for each diamond, we help our partners provide their clients with confidence in its documented origin and a richer understanding of the people, places and craftsmanship behind it. Each Botswanamark diamond is accompanied by a Botswanamark-issued certificate of documented origin.
From the beginning of its journey, Tracr preserves a secure record of a diamond’s origin. Its blockchain-based platform creates a unique digital identity for a natural diamond, allowing information about its origin, characteristics and transformation to be securely recorded.
Through Tracr, the provenance of participating Botswanamark diamonds can be connected to their source in Botswana, protecting the integrity of their origin as they enter the global diamond supply chain. This establishes the first chapter of the diamond’s story: where its journey began.
